Relay for Life Fundraiser

Hello, Sisters! I know how we all love t-shirts, so I thought I would share these with you all! My work (McComb OB-Gyn) is selling t-shirts to raise money for Relay for Life. Our theme is based on the Candyland board game... Candy for a Cure. I'm going to attempt to post a picture of them on here but if for some reason it doesn't work for me, I will have a picture at our monthly meeting. The shirts are $12 for adults and $10 for children (starting at 2-4). All orders will be greatly appreciated... Just let me know if you'd like to order. Thanks!

Pray for me
Pray for me today, y'all. I have to leave my baby for the very first time (overnight). Jax will be staying with his MoMo while Josh works and I will be on the Coast for a convention and awards ceremony. I know he will be just fine while I am gone, but its just the thought of leaving him...
I think this is definitely worse for me than it is for him or anyone else involved. And, I know it probably doesn't seem like a big deal to any one else but me... so, just pray that I can be a "big girl" about this and get through it all without having a breakdown. ha. Thanks!

OOPS
What a Blessing!

Nursery and The one that couldn't stay awake:)
2-3 year old class (missing 4-6 kids)
Teachers: Neisha, Larissa, Angie
We are so fortunate at Calvary to have so many that dedicate themselves to the children in our church! Thank you!
Sorry some of the pictures are a little blurry....
A big THANK YOU to Mr. Phillip for leading Children's Church every Sunday morning....look at all those kids...not many would face that kind of challange
Another big THANK YOU to Mrs. Annette for dedicating so many years to rocking the babies in the nursery!!
Check this out!
I'm attempting to figure out this new Blog stuff... hope this works!
While I have your attention, I've been wanting to tell you all about Barbie Bassett, WLBT-3's chief meteorolgist. Some of you may already know her (Jana, Amy) and you may already know this... she has a blog of her own. It is very interesting to read even if you are not really interested in the weather. I have viewed her blog a couple of times, and i find her posts to be very inspirational - I always feel better and more motivated to be a better Christian after reading her comments. She is a very spiritual lady and it is encouraging to see her use her "celebrity-ness" to witness. We can all do that... we can use our everyday actions and encounters as a witnessing tool. We talked about this very thing in our DT class a couple Sundays ago. Anyway, I wanted to share her site with you... when you have time, read through it. I just discovered her blog this week, but it seems that she posts often. http://www.barbiebassett.blogspot.com/
Enjoy!

The January Secret Sister Meeting will be at Jana's house on Wednesday, Jan. 24th at 6:30pm. Bring Finger Foods! The swap for that night is "jewelry".
If you bring a gift (January's theme is "Cross") for your secret sister to the meeting, just leave it in the basket on the breezeway and Jana will deliver it to her during the meeting.
Speaking of "meeting" - I don't like that word... it sounds too stiff and formal... we need to come up with another word instead of "meeting" ... we need something girly and dramatic! ha ha. What do y'all think???
Have a great day! See ya at Jana's on the 24th. Please make sure you all bring a different colored bag for your secret sister's gift - that way, I can easily tell who has who when the gifts are passed out. ha ha. just kidding.

You're on the Internet!!
I was just checking out Nikki's website (photographer Nikki Spreen - from LA - ya know, Amber's friend!) and I recognized some of the faces in the Photo Gallery. When you get time, go to her blog, http://spreendoubletakesphotography.blogspot.com/
and check out some of the Calvary cuties on there! I really enjoyed seeing some of everyone else's pictures. Well, she doesn't have EVERYONE's posted, but I did enjoy the ones that are there. I'd love to have a picture swap --- you all know how much i LOVE pictures ... i'd love to have at least one of everybody. Wish i could figure out a way to print them off of her site... but i guess that would actually be illegal! (hint to my secret sister - it would be a really nice gift to get one of YOUR pictures for, say, Valentines Day or something! hint hint oh, and please date the back of the picture with your child's/children's ages so I will know when i look back at it in years to come! thanks!!! :) )
ok - just go to the site and check 'em out!
have a great weekend!!

Prayer Request
Denise asked Jana to share a prayer request with everyone, but she isn't able to access the blog right now... So, i'm passing along the information on her behalf! Please take note and say a special prayer today for these people... they need our prayers!
Damion Turner is a student at Bogue Chitto and he is 9 years old. He has a shunt that is leaking too much fluid and the doctors are afraid that there is nothing that they can do because the procedure may lead to a stroke or put him in a vegetable state. Now his kidney's are trying to fail.
I cannot imagine being a parent in this situation. We need to count our blessings every day!
Also, we need to remember Becky Bartram's sister. (I can't remember her name right now). She was about 7 months pregnant and the baby died. They had already diagnosed it with down syndrome and some other problems, but it didn't survive. I think they were going to go ahead and let her labor and have the baby.
Sorry to send so much bad news, but people need our prayers! Pass this info on to any prayer chains of which you may be a part.

our upcoming Photo Shoot
just wanted to vent for a minute...
I got in big trouble last night because Josh just realized that I made an appointment to have our pictures made on THE OPENING DAY OF DEER SEASON!!! How could i do such a thing?? ugh! Well, let's see, Josh, i asked you about it, and you said as long as its not early in the morning or late in the afternoon. So, i made a 2 o'clock appointment, thinking i had met your standards and that everyone would be happy. How am i supposed to know when deer season starts? MEN!!!!!
so, the moral to this story is... if you also have an avid deer hunter in your family, and you expect him to be there for your photo session with Nikki, you better start breaking it lightly that it IS on the opening day of deer season. If you start having this conversation with him now, the red face and smoke may start to fade by the time the 18th rolls around, and maybe you'll still get some pretty pictures. i'm keeping my fingers crossed...

Hey girls,
I thought I'd try to post a message since Jana and Stacy stated that it was easy. By the way, congratulations to Jana on the exciting news!!!
My mom and her sister took lots of pictures of the boys on the day we had our secret sister outing in Natchez. Thought I'd share a few of my favorites, if I can figure out how to download the images. Also, someone remind me again of the gifts for this month!! I lost my sheet. Stacy said the SS gift was candy and card. What about the swap? See ya soon... Deb

I go back to the Dr. Oct. 23rd for a scan to check for the heartbeat. We will feel much better after this!!! I can't believe I have learned how to use this. (Thanks Neisha!)

Make a wish... for terminally ill kids
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to let you know that JAX is participating in the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Walk for Wishes coming up on October 14th in Brookhaven. If you are not familiar with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, let me explain. They are a non-profit organization that provides "wishes" to children who are terminally ill. Usually, the kids want to go to Disney World, or they want to meet a particular super star or something like that. This organization pays for these kids to have their one "wish". It is a wonderful organization and a wonderful cause. I know Jax doesn't really understand what it's all about (yet) but I think this will be something he will be proud of as he grows older. I want him to see how easy it is to help those that are less fortunate than us. I am so thankful to have a healthy child... it breaks my heart to know that there are children out there who have no hope of a cure.
Anyway ( i started to ramble, there; sorry!) Jax has to raise $50 to participate in the walk. I'm hoping he will be the youngest participant this year. If anyone wants to give to this cause, please let me know. (every dollar goes a long way!) All of the money that he raises will be used to grant "wishes" to kids in our area. I'm excited about that. If you are interested in participating in any other way, let me know and i'll get the contact info to you.
Also, pray for the "Wish Kids" and their families...

here's the websites, if you want to check it out!

Last night I decided to go to church and take Gavin to Mission Friends and check out this new study Bro. Trent has started since we no longer get to go to church on Sunday mornings with Jason leaving for MHP school. The sermon was really good and touched my heart! I am going to try to make it a priority to go each Wednesday. I know this can be hard with work, etc... but I wanted to challenge each of you to try to come also. I think you would really get a lot out of this study! Books were sold for the study and I have my grandmothers, but several people that came didn't have a book and it is not something that you necessarily need. I would be glad to make a copy of mine each week for anyone though. Anyway, this was just on my heart and I wanted to share with you all! ----JENNY

September get-together!
Ok, i just got an email from Stacy confirming that the SS theme for the month of September has officially been changed!!! The theme for September will be Crosses - so help spread the word to all SS! Our shopping mission is no longer picture frames... but CROSSES! Also, Stacy asked me to pass along information about the September meeting. It will be SEPTEMBER 20TH (Wednesday) at 6:30 p.m. at Stacy's house. This month, the Swap will be "anything" ---anything you have enjoyed over the year or would like to bring! It should be interesting to see what everyone chooses to bring... surprises are always FUN! I, for one, am already looking forward to September's meeting!!!

September
At the August SS meeting, we talked about changing the theme for September since it was so close to the August theme. (August was Photo Album and September was Picutre Frame). I think some people were already gone when the issue came up. Stacy is hosting the September SS meeting, and I THINK it was decided that the September theme would be changed to "Cross", instead of picture frame. DOES ANYONE KNOW for sure on this ????? Also, if the theme has been officially changed, we need to make sure to tell everyone, especially those who were not at the last meeting.

Secret Sisters hit NATCHEZ!
What a fun trip we had in Natchez on Saturday 8/26!!!! We enjoyed our stops at:Quentin Quick Stop, Kelly's Kids, the Natchez Visitors' Center, Stanton Hall, the Carriage House, Darby's, Growing Pains, My Room, and various other small shops... Here's some words that will remind us of our day in Natchez: grape jelly, the silver bullet, a quarter pound, meooow, tomato stuff, the boy corner, the chicken bone, 14,000 square foot in 8 years, Katrina vs. Patrina, sham-a-lon (chameleon), 64 million, bargains, friends, fun...

Photographer Update
Hey everyone,
Amber wanted me to let everyone know that she talked with Nikki (See Photographer Post below) and she will be here for a photo session Saturday, November 18th if we can get 5 or more people to agree to have pictures made. She thought it would be great to do at that time for christmas pics!! That way you could take them to get christmas cards done or give as gifts, etc.!
Thanks

Secret Sisters Picture Party!!!!!
Hey everyone! Secret Sisters will meet at my house on Wednesday, August 23rd at 6:30p.m. Bring your favorite finger food! And, for something a little different, bring a photo album that you would like to share! You can bring your wedding album or an album of your kids... or, you can share your scrapbook creativity or your high school yearbook... it can be an old album or a new one... professional photos, or just snapshots... you get the picture! ha. no pun intended. ha ha. I just thought this would be a fun "show and tell" for Photo Album/Picture Frame Month!
Also, don't forget your swap gift! This month's swap will be PICTURE FRAMES... we could all use those! And, if y'all like Frames as much as i do, i have a feeling there's gonna be some stealin' taking place!
I can't wait!

NEED YOUR PRAYERS!!
Well here we go again! As most of you may already know, Jason got accepted in the Mississippi Highway Patrol School again. He leaves Sunday, August 13th. The school should last about 19 weeks and hopefully he'll get to come home most Thursdays and leave again on Sundays!(That is not guaranteed though unfortunately.) I have a lot of mixed emotions about this right now especially since we do not have a baby yet. I'm worried that he'll miss it, but it's out of my control. My due date is August 28th. I'm already dilated to 2cm so maybe we'll get a baby this week before he has to go. Jason had a rough time when he went to the last MHP school because it was so hard to leave me and Gavin. He ended up quiting and coming home and of course regretting it. I know it will be even harder on him now leaving us so I need ya'll to do some serious praying for us. I know we'll all be fine, but we are pretty stressed out right now! Thanks for the prayers and support! We definitely need it all! ---JENNY

Photographer
Here's a site for you to check out:
spreendoubletakesphotography.blogspot.com
You have probably heard Amber talk about her friend, who is just getting started as a photographer. Check out her site! Amber sent it to me, and asked me to share with everyone else since her dial-up is slow at times. I just thought i'd put it on here, too!
We have tossed around the idea of getting her to come to our area to do some pics of our kids... She charges $65-75 for sitting, but you get all pictures on a disk and you can do whatever you want with them, usually about 150 pictures.
Check out the site and see what you think. Amber may talk to us more about having her come later.

thinking about Revival
Hey everyone! I was just thinking about Revival, and I thought about a funny story that I can laugh about now, but wasn't so funny at the time. I just thought i'd share it with ya, so you can have a big laugh too! :)
You know, we are fixin' supper for the Revival team this Wednesday, and i'm assigned to make TEA! Thank the Lord!
I was thinking about LAST YEAR's revival supper ... when I was assigned to make the rice (to go with the roast that someone else was making). Wellllll, I've never had to fix rice for a crowd, so i wasn't really sure how much. You know, i usually just do the Minute Rice-in-a-Bag thing when i'm cooking at home, and that's plenty for Josh! Anyway, since i was cooking for so many, i knew i had to buckle down and cook regular rice - no minute rice! So, i bought a big bag at the store, and followed the directions to cook the WHOLE bag, which didn't look like much. UGH. no one told me that the bag quadruples in amount when you cook it!!!! i had rice coming out of my ears! by the time i had finished cooking it, i had a huge 6 or 7 quart dish full of rice, which i dutifully took to the church for the Revival team. AND I still had rice left over at home! We ate rice for a week at home, and i still froze about 4 or 5 quart bags of it! (didn't know you could do that either - that was a tip from Mrs. Frankie when i revealed my horrible experience of cooking rice to her! ha)
Its funny, now, to think back on it. LOL. Guess there really IS a life lesson in every experience. Did i mention that i'm making the tea this year?
LOL,

We weren't able to get the room upstairs at Dixie Springs so we had to change plans for Saturday. We are planning on taking the church bus to Natchez and eat at King's Tavern instead. We are going to meet at the church @ 5:30. Stacy will be in touch. I hope everyone is able to make it.

a "Sisters Only" day away!
So, i've been told several times that we need to get together and go on a day trip or something as a group! I COULDN'T AGREE MORE! You all know that anytime the word "G-O" is mentioned, I am the first on the band wagon!!
I've been trying to think of things that women always want to do, but the men normally would not consider doing... but that is a really hard task, especially when considering our 16 different personalities also! ha ha
Here's a few things to consider; check it out, see what you think, and let's discuss at the next meeting. We've got to do some serious planning ... we're all in desperate need of a GIRLS ONLY fun day!
1.) what about a day at the spa? i have seen several salons advertise "pj parties" for groups! this could be something fun, something pampering, but not too far to travel.
2.) shopping and touring Natchez... just a hop, skip and a jump from us lies a beautiful old river town. Maybe we could go to the Kelly's Kids warehouse sale (june 17th) and then have a Southern lunch and go tour a home. Rosalie will be decorated like a 19th century wedding throughout the month of June.
See websites: http://www.kellyskids.com/kkids/spring_06/wmabout.pgm?task=whssale
http://www.rosaliemansion.com/
3.) or, maybe visit another old river town... Vicksburg. There, we could visit the outlet mall, http://www.vicksburgfactoryoutlet.com/, and/or maybe tour a garden & home, http://www.lindenplantationgardens.com/index.html, and/or see a melodrama play, "Gold in the Hills", http://www.vicksburg.com/~gold/.
4) Someone mentioned that The Food Network's own Paula Deen will be in Jackson soon. Here's the low-down on her upcoming visit... (If we opted for this activity, i'm sure we could also combine a little shopping before or after her program.) http://www.brookshires.com/promotions/paula/paula.asp
5) We could do an out-of-state visit... there's an outlet mall in Gonzales, LA; Foley, AL; and also in Gulfport, MS (our last SS destination). http://www.tangeroutlet.com/ Or, maybe we could just find us a nice beach somewhere... you all know how desperately i need a tan! ha ha
There is also a Scrapbook Fest in Natchez coming up in July (www.scrapnontheriver.com.) and we could always go to the really cool "Tupelo Giant Flea Market" which is the 2nd full weekend of every month except February and August.
What ideas do you all have? POST THEM, or bring them to the next meeting. Let's not let summer slip by without our very own Secret Sisters Splunkle!!! (i can feel the excitement brewing already!!)

CPR course Update!
I am posting for Jenny, as she is not able to get to her computer right now.
She has gotten some more info on the CPR course. Here's the scoop:
The CPR course will be Monday, July 10th at 6:30 p.m. at the church!!
The cost is still $10 per person. This is a bargain! ANYONE can participate so spread the word (not just Sisters or Church Members -- anyone!). If you are interested and will be able to attend on this date, please let Jenny know for sure by June 18th. She has to let the hospital know a final count so they will know what supplies and how many instructors to send. You can pay your $10 course fee the night of the class.
Thanks!

Stacy Leggett went to the doctor for her yearly mamogram and sonogram and he told her she needed to have a biopsy of her breast. She had the biopsy done Tuesday afternoon. She got the results Thursday afternoon. This is her response:

CPR Course!
Hey Girls! Jason and I had an incident the other day with Gavin and now I really want to take the CPR Course. We were in Wal-Mart and Gavin was sitting in the buggy eating Fruit Loops. All of a sudden he got choked. Luckily Jason was with me and knew what to do because I freaked out. He turned completely blue in the face and really scared me to death! I thought Jason was going to beat him to death but finally got the Fruit Loop loose thank goodness. Jason was worried and had even told me to call 911 and find some help. It was awful. I was sick afterwards! It really scared me and made me think of what I would have done had I been there with him alone. Anyway---- I called KDMC this morning and talked to the man in charge of CPR Courses. He said if we had at least 5 people that were interested, he would do our on private class for $10 a person. It would be focused on child/infant CPR. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested. He said for me to get back with him to set up a date and time. Most likely it would be a week night and be at the hospital. I think my mom and mother-in-law are interested, so it doesn't just have to be "Secret Sisters"! Let me know who is interested!!
Thanks --- JENNY :)

May "Dirty Swap"
Hello, Sisters!! I just wanted to "post" a message about the May swap item. I have decided to do "Bath Accessories," things like bubble bath, bath salts, soaps, etc. I had trouble deciding what coordinated with PJ's and panties, and this was as good as I got. I figured what more than to take a bath with some good smelling soaps or bubbles than slip into your new PJ's and/or panties.
See you all on May 23, I hope! Happy Shopping!!
Love,
Becca
